The Bank of Taiwan has announced a new milestone in its ongoing effort to expand business overseas in line with the government’s New Southbound Policy. Following the opening of its Jakarta Representative Office on Sept. 23, 2019, the Bank will inaugurate its newest representative office, in Kuala Lumpur, on Feb. 20 this year.
In line with the Bank’s corporate vision: “A Leading Bank with Global Presence”, the BOT is working vigorously and pragmatically to carry out international development. The Sydney Branch and Bangkok and Frankfurt representative offices were established in 2018; representative offices were set up in Manila, Ho Chi Minh City, and Jakarta in 2019; and the Kuala Lumpur Representative Office will open for business on Feb. 20 this year. Increasingly comprehensive development in the ASEAN region will strengthen the completeness of the Bank’s global network and give customers access to even better financial services.
Malaysia occupies a key location in the ASEAN region, is rich in natural resources, offers high-quality human resources, upholds the rule of law, and enjoys political stability. Its stable economic growth in recent years has attracted investment from a multitude of foreign sources. Besides being the nation’s political and economic center, Kuala Lumpur is its most modernized and advanced city. The BOT’s representative office there will carry out integrated marketing with the Bank’s OBU and its overseas branches, and will work with the New Southbound Financing Committee toward the further development of the ASEAN customer base and the provision of assistance to Taiwanese businesses entering that market. The Bank will also strengthen its cooperation with landmark financial institutions and multinational banks in the ASEAN area so as to enhance the effectiveness of its business development model and make full use of complementary advantages with the aim of forging a win-win situation for all parties concerned.
Ms. Lin Shu-Ling will serve as representative in the BOT’s Kuala Lumpur Representative Office; it is located at Unit 1-30-3A, Level 30, Menara Bangkok Bank, No. 105, Jalan Ampang, 50450 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
