According to the National Taxation Bureau of Kaohsiung, Ministry of Finance, the filing period for the 2022 alien individual income tax return is from May 1 to May 31, 2023. There are multiple filing methods, including online filing, by paper, or via electronic media. The Bureau recommends the public to use online filing as it is fast and convenient. If there is a tax refundable amount, the tax refund methods include direct deposit of tax refund and tax refund by check. The Bureau recommends the public to use direct deposit of tax refund to a TWD deposit account, which is safe and convenient!

The Bureau added that in response to the digital age and electronic policies, if the alien individual income tax return is filed online, taxpayers can download income and deduction data via multiple identity verification methods at home, eliminating the need to go to the Bureau in person to file by paper in Taiwan’s hot summer. People who file online and use direct deposit of tax refund  can receive their tax refund first. The relevant tax refund schedules are listed in the table below.
