PPP Projects Expected to Reach NT$150 Billion in 2024 – The Golden Thumb Awards for PPP Ceremony is Coming Soon!

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Finance, thanks to the collective efforts of various agencies, 103 PPP project contracts were signed as of the end of October this year (2024), amounting to NT$114.3 billion. In particular, 58 were implemented according to the Act for Promotion of Private Participation in Infrastructure Projects, with a total amount of investment NT$37.8 billion. Among the PPP projects signed, the BOO project of large-scale logistics center in Dayuan District of Taoyuan Aerotropolis in Taoyuan City attracted the highest amount of investment of about NT$11.5 billion. The Green Energy Sustainable Circulation Center BOT Project in Chiayi City came second with an investment of approximately NT$7 billion. Other successful projects include initiatives addressing social needs, such as long-term care and environmental pollution control facilities. The Ministry of Finance estimates that, based on signed PPP contracts as of late October as well as projects currently under negotiation, this year’s investment amount may reach as high as NT$150 billion in 2024!

The Ministry of Finance will hold the 22nd Golden Thumb Awards for PPP in Infrastructure Awards Presentation Ceremony at 14:00 on November 29 (Friday) at the Hua Nan Bank Headquarters. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony! A total of 23 entries were submitted for the Golden Thumb Awards in this year. Following rigorous evaluation and on-site inspections, three government teams were honored with Excellence Awards and three with Honorable Mention Awards, while four private entries received Excellence Awards and one received a Honorable Mention Award. Furthermore, one Innovation Award and three Public Charity Awards were presented as special recognition. Tainan City Government emerged as the top performer with three awards. The award-winning projects this year demonstrate a wide range of applications across various sectors, including transportation, healthcare, geothermal energy, sports, culture and education, and wastewater treatment.
