30 years of The ITA Cradle of International Taxation Talent
The Training Institute, Ministry of Finance will hold the 2014 International Taxation Academy from June 16th to July 4th to equip our tax officers with knowledge of international taxation and enhance interactions in international taxation affairs. The opening ceremony will be hosted by Ms. Hsieh, Ling-yuan, Director- General of the Training Institute, Ministry of Finance. The curriculum for this year includes: 1. Controlled Foreign Corporations and Permanent Establishments (Hybrid Entities), 2. Transfer Pricing, Base Erosion and Profit Shifting, and 3.Tax Treaties. In addition, three world-renowned experts have been brought together as a combination of diamond-class faculty, they will lecture at the Academy and talk on their personal experiences in the related topics. They are Ms. Sitanan Sriworakorn, Full-Time Lecturer at Assumption University in Thailand, School of Law, Dr. Per Juvkam-Wold, Senior Manager, Transfer Pricing at Ernst & Young, LLP, and Dr. Allen J. Littman, Partner, Baker and Hostetler law firm. There will be 31 domestic tax officers participating this year, and in addition, with the assistance of the Department of International Cooperation and Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ten government officers with potential for development from other countries, including officers from Belize, Czech, Indonesia, Jordan, Malaysia, Poland, Saint Christopher and Nevis, and Saint Lucia, Swaziland and Thailand will also be participating in the Academy. The Training institute has been co-operating with the School of Law, Southern Methodist University on the International Taxation Academy for 30 terms since 1984. Over the past 30 years, 898 tax officers in our country and 216 officers in the field of public finance from another 57 countries have participated in the training program. This program has been shown to be effective in introducing innovative knowledge about international taxation and participation in the courses has assisted tax officers’ in developing their expertise, professional English language skills, and also an international perspective. The Academy provides the officers in the MOF with a platform for networking and fosters dialogue with tax and public financial officers from other countries. (Emily Chen 886-2-86632399 Ext. 205)
