Applying for a Lower Inspection Rate of Goods

    According to Article 33 of Regulations Governing the Establishment and Management of Customs Brokers (報關業設置管理辦法) and Article 2 of Regulations Governing the Customs Brokers Applications for Lowering the Inspection Rate of Goods (報關業者申請降低貨物抽驗比率作業規定), Taipei Customs (TPC) announces that Second Customs Clearance Division of TPC accepts applications from Customs brokers for lowering the inspection rate of goods from January to February, 2020.The inspection rate of import and export goods declared by authorized brokers can be lowered except for some special cases. The benefit of lowering the inspection rate of goods will start from April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.

    Moreover, the Customs brokers with Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) certification will gain a lower inspection rate of goods from 51% to 75% according to Article 2 and 3 of Regulations Governing the Customs Brokers Applications for Lowering the Inspection Rate of Goods. The inspection rate of the First Category brokers is from 26% to 50%, and that of the Second Category brokers is reduced to the maximum rate of 25%. Additionally, AEO Customs brokers are not necessary to apply for lowering the inspection rate of goods every year.
