Exporting Used Vehicles and Engines Requires Verification Report to Prove Not Stolen

Keelung Customs (KLC) stated that recently there have been exporters declaring used vehicles and engines without submitting a verification report, issued by The Third Special Police Corps, National Police Agency, Ministry of the Interior (Third Special Police Corps), or its subordinate branches, to prove that the goods were not stolen, the situation that resulted in delayed customs clearance. To protect exporters’ rights, KLC suggested that they acquire the verification report for such goods prior to declaring to the Customs.

KLC explained that used vehicles and engines refer to vehicles and second-hand vehicles that have registered their license plates, and engines, or other abandoned vehicles and engines that could still be used, including used cars under tariff code 8703 and 8704, used motorcycles under tariff code 8711, and used engines under tariff code 8407 and 8408. There are 99 items of goods in total. Before these items are declared to be exported, exporters shall acquire the verification report from Third Special Police Corps or its subordinate branches.

KLC emphasized that besides submitting the verification report from Third Special Police Corps or its subordinate branches upon declaration, exporters shall also fill in “8” in the clearance code blank on the declaration form, meaning “document review”, to facilitate customs verification. If you have any questions concerning the verification report, please contact Third Special Police Corps at (02)26668601; as for questions concerning the exportation, please contact KLC at (03)3558220 ext. 162.
