Customs Brokers Shall Report Employees’ Resignation, Return Their Identification Cards within Deadline

Keelung Customs (KLC) stated that in order to fully grasp the real-time resignation condition of customs clearance employees to avoid others using their identification cards without authorization to access customs clearance areas, resulting in risks to cargo security, according to Article 24, Paragraph 1 of Regulations Governing the Establishment and Management of Customs Brokers (the Regulations), upon the resignation of a customs clearance employee, the customs broker is required to report the matter to the customs authorities in writing or online within 1 working day commencing from the date following the employee’s resignation and return the employee's identification card for invalidation within 7 days. The customs broker can also report to the customs authorities and return the identification card before the date of resignation of the employee. Customs brokers shall pay attention to the above deadline to avoid being punished.

KLC explained that if the violation of the above article is confirmed, Customs will conduct a case review to decide whether to impose a warning or a fine ranging from NTD6,000 to NTD30,000, in accordance with Article 36 of the Regulations. In the case of a serious violation, the license may either be suspended for a maximum period of six months or revoked.

KLC further explained that for customs brokers’ convenience, they can visit CPT Single Window to complete online report for employee’s resignation; besides reporting online, they shall send or return the employee’s identification card by post or in person to Customs for invalidation within 7 days. Customs calls on customs brokers to report employees’ resignation and return their identification cards according to the Regulations in order to maintain cargo security and clearance order.
