The National Taxation Bureau of Taipei, Ministry of Finance, stated that fraudsters have recently been impersonating the National Taxation Bureau of Taipei, Ministry of Finance, and sending emails notifying business entities that the e-invoice number ranges they applied for had not passed review. The emails instruct business entities to follow the instructions to download attached files, attempting to trick them into downloading the attachments or clicking on malicious links in order to steal their information. Business entities are urged not to fall for such scams.
The Bureau explained that when a business entity applies to the competent local tax authority for e-invoice number ranges, if supplementary information is required following the review, the Bureau will issue an official document and will not notify the applicant by email. If a business entity receives an email purporting to be from a government agency, it should check whether the sender's email address ends with the official government domain ".gov.tw". If the address does not end with ".gov.tw", the recipient should not click on any links in the email or download any attachments.
The Bureau reminds the public that scams have recently become increasingly prevalent, including emails or official correspondence impersonating the E-Invoice Integration Service Platform, Ministry of Finance, or a National Taxation Bureau and requesting that business entities provide sensitive company information or download attachments. Business entities should remain vigilant. If you receive a suspicious email or letter, verify the source of the information first to avoid falling victim to a scam and the risk of information leakage. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the 165 Anti-Fraud Hotline, the National Taxation Bureau's toll-free service line at 0800-000-321, or the Ministry of Finance's E-Invoice Integration Service Platform customer service line at 0800-521988 to verify the information and protect your information security.
