The first successful case of cooperative development of national land to promote investment in the long-term care industry – Taitung County Health Long-term Care Park for the Elderly Development Project – held a signing ceremony today

The Taitung County Health Long-term Care Park for the Elderly was developed by the NPA in collaboration with the Taitung County Government on national land at the original site of the Taiping Veterans Home in Beinan Township, Taitung County. The park's goal is to encourage the growth of the local elderly housing and long-term care industries by revitalizing national assets and adding value to old recreational spaces. The case successfully completed investment promotion and was the first successful case in which the central and local governments jointly developed national land and introduced long-term care industries. Attended by the NPA, the Taitung County Government, and the winning bidder, Dongji Medical Foundation, a signing ceremony was held today (28th) to establish a residential park for the elderly and a new system of care for the elderly through joint efforts between the public and private sectors.

The NPA estimates that the original Taiping Veterans Home site encompasses approximately 9.2 hectares of national land, all of which fall under the classifications of Type B building lands and land designated for special purposes in rural areas. It is connected to Taiwan Provincial Highways 9 and 9B and is located next to the Beinan Township Office in Taitung County. The site is linked to neighboring municipalities via the East Rift Valley Line and South Link Line. Because of easy access to urban regions, with Fengnian Airport and Taitung Railway Station just a 10-minute drive away, this location is ideal for promoting the long-term care sector. This project released national land by establishment of superficies. The winning bidder assessed that the investment will be NT$2.28 billion over the 50-year superficies period to set up 200 beds in the long-term care area and 312 rooms in the nursing home area, which will create a total output value of NT$13.1 billion and create 203 job opportunities.

The NPA further stated that it has been working with local governments to improve and utilize three pieces of national land in Tainan City's Southern District, Northern District, and Yunlin County's Huwei Township to promote the establishment of long-term care facilities. Considering that the Hualien East area is an ideal place for most citizens after retirement, the NPA has also recently made plans to introduce long-term care industries in three national lands in Hualien City, Shoufeng Township, and Yuli Township, Hualien County, through the combination of private expertise and capital in a multi-faceted manner, in order to raise the standard of senior citizens' housing and long-term care services in East Taiwan and to respond to the long-term care and retirement needs of the country's super-aged society at an early stage.
