2021 Statistics of Custom Affairs and External Trade Statistics Annual Adjustment hit record high

The number of declarations (excluding simplified forms) exceeded 12 million in 2021 and hit a new record, increasing by 8.0%, of which 5.5 million were import declarations, increasing by 9.5%; while 6.9 million were export declarations, increasing by 6.9%. In terms of loaded containers, total importation and exportation in 2021 reached 3.9 million containers, increasing by 3.3%, of which Kaoshiung Customs accounted for more than 50% and increased by 3.0%. Keelung Customs accounted for around 30% and Taichung Customs accounted for around 20%, increasing by 5.7% and 0.5% respectively.
The average clearance time of import and export declarations (excluding simplified forms) was slightly shorter than 2020, and the overall performance was not affected by COVID-19.
The annual adjustment of trade ststistics in 2021 was completed on February and hit a record high. Total exports was adjusted to US$446 billion, revised down by US$60 million (up 29.3% from 2020). Total imports was adjusted to US$382 billion, revised up by US$470 million (up 33.3% from 2020) due to the pending cases for liquefied natural gas and bituminous coal valuation correcting after retrial, revised up by US$240 million and US$110 million respectively.
