The refunds (1st batch) for aliens’ individual income tax were transferred to taxpayers’ accounts on August 1.

The National Taxation Bureau of the Southern Area, Ministry of Finance indicated that the refunds (1st batch) for aliens’ individual income tax in 2018 were transferred to taxpayers’ appointed accounts on August 1, 2019. Alternatively, taxpayers are allowed to receive tax refund checks by mail.

The Bureau further explains that the ways for aliens and domestic taxpayers to receive their tax refunds are similar. Taxpayers may receive tax refunds via transferable NT-dollar-accounts at specified banks which have signed contracts with the Financial Information Service Co., Ltd. or Chunghua Post Co., Ltd. The account must belong to the taxpayer, or to the taxpayer's spouse or to a dependent in the case of a joint-filing and have been opened with the use of an ROC ID No. or an ARC or APRC ID No. For those who do not designate the accounts while filing tax returns, the Bureau will mail tax refund checks to the taxpayers.
