The National Taxation Bureau Provides One-stop Financial Estate Inquiry Services, Saving Time and Effort

The National Taxation Bureau of Kaohsiung, Ministry of Finance stated that since July 1, 2020, the Regional National Taxation Bureaus will simultaneously implement the convenience measure of “one stop inquiry of financial estate information." If the decedent bequeathed a financial estate, the heir can apply for inquiries to any of the National Taxation Bureaus, avoiding going to various financial institutions one by one, and being convenience and time saving.

The National Taxation Bureau of Kaohsiung, Ministry of Finance further stated that in the past, people who had lost their relatives often had no knowledge of the estate. In addition to inquiring about the property and income of the decedent from the National Taxation Bureau for reference, people also needed to make time-consuming and labor-intensive inquiries with different entities such as land offices, banks, and insurance and securities companies. At present, heirs, executors, and estate administrators only need to bring their identity documents, the death certificate or the original of the household registration cancellation document, and the proof of the relationship with the decedent (if the application is commissioned to be made by an agent, the identity certificate of the agent and the proxy statement must be attached ), to the National Taxation Bureau to apply to the six major financial institutions to inquire about the decedent’s financial estate such as deposits, securities listed at TWSE, TPEx and the emerging stock market, personal insurance, safe deposit boxes, financial institution loans, credit card debts, etc., at the time of death. The results will be directly responded to the applicant by the financial institutions.

The Bureau reminded that when people go to the general service counter of the National Taxation Bureau to inquire about the property and income of the decedent, if they have the needs for the above-mentioned services, they can fill out application forms to inquire more complete financial estate information. If there are any doubts about the above content, please call the toll-free service number 0800-000321 for consultation.
