The National Property Administration, Ministry of Finance (hereinafter referred to as the NPA), has been actively working in line with significant national policies like the development of water resources, long-term care facilities, and social housing. It has also helped government agencies appropriate and purchase national real estate in compliance with the law and taken the initiative to inventory appropriate targets for review by the relevant authorities. All of these actions have contributed significantly to the nation's overall development.
Statistics show that over the course of the last five years, the NPA has helped the authorities acquire and assign around 50,000 lots of national land with an area of 7,000 hectares. At the end of 2023, it helped housing authorities finish allocating 56 sites and 2 premises (25.48 hectares of land and 10 houses) in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior's promotion of the social housing policy, while reserving 415 hectares of land for future planning in order to achieve housing justice and lessen the housing burden on young people.
The NPA further stated that it has helped the authorities allocate 27 plots of land and 4 pieces of real estate (11.73 hectares of land and 11 houses) in order to obtain the real estate needed by long-term care facilities, in accordance with the Ministry of Health and Welfare's long-term care policies, such as the "Incentive Program for Residential Long-Term Care Institutions." Among these, the Department of Health of the Kaohsiung City Government has set aside land in the Gushan District for the construction of a long-term care service park, with plans to build dementia care units, day care centers, and other long-term care facilities. The goal is to increase the availability of long-term care services, put the idea of aging in place into practice, and lessen the burden on family caregivers.
The NPA added that desalination has been identified as a critical task in the diversified development of water resources in response to the intensifying effects of climate change. The Executive Yuan approved the Tainan and Hsinchu desalination plant project as a major public construction project, which is handled in the form of a free allocation, and the NPA has helped the authorities finish allocating national land in order to guarantee the stability of the water supply and to facilitate the development of the water resources construction.
In order to improve the efficiency of using national property and distribute the benefits of a good administration to all citizens, the NPA will continue to promote significant national policies and helping authorities acquire national real estate in compliance with the law.
