To combat the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the sufficient domestic supply of face masks, Ministry of Economic Affairs has imposed a ban on face masks of textile materials exports from Jan 24 to April 30, 2020.

Face masks of textile materials exports, including postal parcels and express consignments, are forbidden unless exporters secure the special case approval from Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs. Please notice that even ONE piece of face mask of textile materials through export postal parcel is illegal while every outbound passenger is authorized to carry 5 boxes (250 pieces) of face masks of textile materials for personal use. According to Article 38 of Customs Anti-Smuggling Act, illegal face masks through export postal parcels will be confiscated.

In the International Air Mail Center, Taipei Customs (TPC) had seized 1,35,358 masks in export postal parcels which were going to be sent to the relatives and friends in Mainland China or Hong Kong from Jan 24 to Feb 21, 2020. To meet the domestic demand, Customs Administration and Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) have an agreement that the seized face masks will be redistributed by MOHW. TPC hopes that everyone can stand together to fight the disease and TPC will spare no efforts in protecting the border at this very moment.
