Ministry of Finance Reminds Again: Deadline for Claiming Universal Cash Handout for Newborns Born from October 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023 Expires on January 31, 2024 – Please Claim Promptly!

The National Treasury Administration, Ministry of Finance, indicates that nationals born domestically from October 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023, and who possess a birth certificate, as well as whose birth mother or birth father meets the eligibility criteria, are eligible to claim their NT$6,000 cash at the counter of the post office by January 31, 2024. The birth certificate and identification documents of the birth mother or birth father should be presented for the claim.

The NTA further indicates that approximately 35,000 newborns born domestically from October 1 to December 31, 2023, are eligible. As of January 15, 2024, around 30,000 have already claimed the universal cash handout, with over 5,000 who have yet to do so. The rate of newborns claiming is only 85.1%. The NTA urges parents of eligible newborns to seize the opportunity and claim the universal cash handout as soon as possible. It is essential to claim at the post office before 5:00 PM on January 31, 2024, as claims made after this deadline will not be accepted.

The NTA would like to remind the public that the counter services for claiming the universal cash handout at the post office will only be available until 5:00 PM on January 31, 2024. In the event that individuals encounter difficulties in claiming the universal cash handout, or if the birth mother does not meet the eligibility criteria, or if certain cases require further verification by relevant authorities, considering the processing time needed for forwarding and data transmission to the system platform, and the time individuals need to allocate to visit the post office for claiming, it is imperative for individuals to call the information service hotline "1988" and complete any necessary documentation before 6:30 PM on January 25, 2024. Failure to provide the required documents within the specified timeframe may result in the inability to claim the universal cash handout.

The NTA would like to reiterate that the government will not send text messages or emails to notify individuals about receiving money or logging in, nor will they make phone calls requesting ATM or online banking transactions. It is crucial for the public to remain vigilant and not fall for these scams in order to prevent personal information theft or fraud. If you encounter suspicious websites or messages, please call the Anti-Fraud Hotline at 165 immediately to prevent fraudulent incidents.
