MOF Won First Prize in 2019 “Open Government Data Gold Label Award” and Third Prize in “Open Government Data Application Award”

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has been implementing the open government data policy of the Executive Yuan, continuing to strengthen and sustainably develop the quality of the MOF open data, in order to provide it for immediate and convenient use for the public. For its dedicated efforts, the MOF won the First Prize in the 2019 “Open Government Data Gold Label Award” and the Third Prize in “Open Government Data Application Award”. Director Chuan-Hsi Chen of Fiscal Information Agency, MOF attended the awards ceremony on October 17, 2019 and stated that the Ministry will continue to build on its current foundations and proactively promote the MOF open data achievements in the future.

The National Development Council has carried out an incentive mechanism of the government open data application since 2018, in order to improve the quality of open government data and its applicable benefit of added value. The Ministry of Finance has submitted 1,998 points of open government data and 54 of Open API this year, which all conformed to gold label inspection, allowing it to stand out from national competitors, garner widespread recognition and praise, and win the first prize.

As for “Open Government Data Application Award”, the Fiscal Information Agency, MOF promoted the result of open data application of national electronic invoice, showing the transparency in the category of “Invoice Application Service of Consumption Channel”, and winning the third prize. The Ministry expects to strengthen collaboration with civil groups, make more innovative applications and convenient services for the public, and to build a win-win situation for the public, government and industry in the future.

The Ministry of Finance states that the implementation of open government data has developed gradually. The Ministry has provided numerous open government data for public use on the “Open Government Data Platform” (https://data.gov.tw) and is currently proceeding to improve the accuracy, ease of use, and stucture of the data quality, in order to extend service benefits and meet the needs of the public. The Ministry will countinue to provide significant finance data for use in various fields, and continue to develop creative and practical value in the future.

The Ministry of Finance further affirms that the awards give the Ministry a tremendous amount of encouragement for implementing open government data. The Ministry will countinue to refine and improve the quality and quantity of the MOF open data, extend applicable benefits, and create better value through finance data in the future.
