Customs' fourth patrol vessel "CP-10006" successfully completes sea trials

Customs Administration has announced the successful completion of sea trials for the fourth patrol vessel, "CP-10006," which was newly constructed to enhance the capacity for harbor and sea smuggling prevention. The "Plan to Replace Customs Patrol Vessels" began in 2017, with plans to build four 100-ton patrol vessels to replace some of the existing old patrol vessels. CSBC Corporation was responsible for the construction of the new vessels. All equipment and vessel performance tests for "CP-10006" were conducted according to contract specifications and passed with flying colors. The vessel is expected to be delivered to Kaohsiung Customs in May 2023 to perform smuggling prevention duties in the southern harbor and sea areas.
According to Customs Administration, the construction of the four new patrol vessels is nearing completion, and the plan has been successfully implemented with the joint efforts of customs personnel. The first patrol vessel, "CP-10001," was delivered to Keelung Customs for duty in the northern harbor and sea areas on August 31, 2022. The second patrol vessel, "CP-10002," was delivered to Kaohsiung Customs on December 29, 2022, for duty in the southern harbor and sea areas. The third patrol vessel, "CP-10005," was delivered to Taichung Customs on March 7, 2023, for duty in the central harbor and sea areas.
Customs Administration also noted that the new patrol vessels are characterized by their light weight, high speed, high wave resistance, and high endurance. They are equipped with night vision surveillance systems, which can enhance the safety of personnel and vessels and strengthen the effectiveness of border inspections to effectively deter sea smuggling. These patrol vessels are a strong addition to the Customs Administration's efforts to safeguard the country's maritime gateways.
