The Second International Simulation Video Conference of 2022 Held Successfully to Strengthen the Capacity Building of Customs Officers

Customs Administration expressed that the Second International Simulation Video Conference of 2022 was successfully held on December 7. The Conference was organized by Kaohsiung Customs and Keelung Customs, while colleagues from Customs Administration, Taipei Customs, and Taichung Customs also enthusiastically participated.

Four colleagues from the above-mentioned organizers made informative presentations covering topics including “Innovations in Customs Supervision of Bonded System,” “Introduction to Post-Clearance Audit Procedures,” “Introduction to WCO Data Model,” and “Brief Reflection on X-ray Inspection & Release of Containerized Cargos and the Latest Measures.” The content of the presentations is highly related to customs daily operation; therefore, a lot of questions were raised by participants that contributed to the intense discussions.

Since customs affairs are complicated and complex, officers from different departments may not be familiar with each other’s work content. When two departments need to cooperate on certain projects, the lack of mutual understanding can hinder the cooperation. Through the International Simulation Video Conference, customs officers not only can improve their English capability, but also can obtain the expertise from customs experts of various fields.

Customs Administration further stated that, Customs is a highly internationalized agency; thus establishing a bilingual learning environment and providing appropriate capacity building are essential for cultivating customs talents with an international view, which will definitely contribute to the integration of customs policies with global standards.
