Taipei Customs Seized Passengers Traveling Cross Boarder with Meat Products Again.

Taipei Customs seized inbound passengers who entered Taiwan on flights CZ-3095 and MU-5007, carrying 3 packs of ham sausage (weighed 1.84 kg) and 1 pack pork sausage (weighed 2.5 kg)  as checked-in luggage on February 18 and 26, 2022. Those passengers without oral or written declaration, choose the green channel for customs clearance. Since Mainland China is an African swine fever area, the Bureau of Animal and Plant Health Inspection and Quarantine imposed a fine of TWD200,000 for each pork product respectively.

Under Statue for Prevention and Control of Infectious Animal Disease, meat products are items subject to apply for quarantine upon entry. Violating the previous disclosure regulations, meat products shall be confiscated and destroyed and imposed a fine up to TWD1,000,000.

Taipei Customs once again urges people do not bring unqualified animal products into Taiwan, especially when the African swine fever epidemic is raging in Mainland China.  The public is suggested to work together to prevent the epidemic.
