Taipei Customs and Aviation Police Bureau seize hidden cocaine in joint operation
On September 9, 2019, officers of Taipei Customs (TPC), Customs Administration and Aviation Police Bureau (APB), National Police Agency intercepted cocaine, a category one narcotics, at an express cargo warehouse in the Farglory Free Trade Zone. The seizure was 441g (gross weight) of cocaine, with estimated illegal earnings over NT$1 million.

TPC further stated that the drugs sealed in plastic zipper bags were found concealed in disguised food cans. The package was stopped by TPC officials after routine X-rays showed anomalies. Several suspects were tracked down and arrested by APB in the follow-up action. TPC pointed out that in accordance with Article 4 of the Narcotics Hazard Prevention Act in Taiwan, offenders of manufacturing, transporting, or selling category one narcotics are subject to a death sentence or life imprisonment. Offenders who are sentenced to life imprisonment may also be subject to a fine of no more than NT$20 million.

TPC also stated that in accordance with Article 6 of the Rules of Awards and Penalties for Preventing Narcotics Hazard, when a violation report is identified, the informant would be rewarded up to a maximum of NT$10 million.
