Keelung Customs (KLC) expressed: to alleviate the impact of COVID-19 on bonded warehouses, operators are allowed to apply to the Customs for extending the storage period for their bonded goods. Previously, the application should be submitted to the Ministry of Finance (MOF). KLC further noted: “Customs will examine the application promptly and take a relatively lenient approach in the investigation of such cases to help the inflicted business.”
KLC indicated that the pandemic has resulted in global economic slowdown for the first half of 2020 and suffered many. To help the affected industries stay afloat, MOF has amended Article 45 of the “Regulations Governing the Establishment and Management of Bonded Warehouse” to transfer the approval authority for storage period extension on special causes from MOF to Customs to simplify administrative procedures and to relieve financial stress for relevant stakeholders.
“Operators should file applications to the Customs for extension, describing reasons and period of time to be extended with lists of bonded goods and other certified documents,” KLC added. For more information, please contact Custom Depot Division at (02)24202951 ext.1240.
