Are there restrictions on bringing masks into the country?

In response to the new measures for the border management of masks, since September 16, 2020, inbound passengers carrying a total of 250 masks or less, regardless of medical or non-medical, are exempted from declaration and import permits, and they will pass through the green channel. Passengers bringing more than 250 masks into the country need to fill in the ROC customs declaration form and submit it through the red channel for customs inspection and clearance. Passengers should make online application to Bureau of Foreign Trade(BOFT), Ministry of Economic Affairs and obtain import permits in advance for the excess part of more than 250 non-medical masks; in the same case for medical masks, passengers should acquire not only online import permits from the BOFT but also written consent documents for personal use from the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration, Ministry of Health and Welfare.
