The Export-Import Bank of the Republic of China attended the 2019 Berne Union Spring Meeting in Singapore
Founded in 1934, International Union of Credit and Investment Insurers, simply called Berne Union as the first meeting held in Berne, Switzerland, is an international not-for-profit trade association, representing the global export credit and investment insurance industry.
The Berne Union’s mission is to actively facilitate cross-border trade by supporting international acceptance of sound principles in export credit and foreign investment. This is achieved by providing a forum for professional exchange, sharing of expertise and networking amongst members, as well as through engagement in collaborative projects with other stakeholders from across the wider trade finance industry.
As of May 2019, the Berne Union has 85 members from 70 countries around the world including 70 government-backed export credit agencies, 11 private insurers and 4 multilateral institutions who provide insurance products, guarantees, and, in some cases, types of direct financing in the support of cross-border trade - providing a vital link in the flow of goods, services and investment capital world-wide.
Under the leadership of President Jean Liu, The Export-Import Bank of the Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the ‘Eximbank’) attended the 2019 Berne Union Spring Meeting which was taken place in Singapore during April 8th~12th. In addition, Eximbank participated in the first joint meeting between direct-lending eximbanks and insurers of export credit, hosted by the Berne Union.
By facilitating a mutually-beneficial exchange of professional knowledge and networking amongst other members in Berne Union Spring Meeting, The President of Eximbank Jean Liu stated that we had a more complete understanding of the export credit landscape and built a great international image of Taiwan which enabled us to achieve Eximbank’s mission to assist external trade.
