Welcome to the ADB Business Opportunities Seminar in Taipei on 7 August 2019
The ADB is a multilateral development bank. According to the ADB member fact sheet, the ADB’s procurement contracts in Asia and the Pacific for goods and works totaled $12.55 billion and consulting services totaled $696.18 million in 2018. Furthermore, the New Southbound Policy’s target is to cooperate with the 10 countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, six countries in South Asia, as well as Australia and New Zealand. All of these countries are ADB members. We encourage Taiwanese firms to try to win ADB procurement contracts and participate in the ADB-financed projects. Expanding the New Southbound Policy market has huge potential business opportunities.
We have invited Mr. Julian Doczi, procurement specialist from the ADB, to be our speaker at the BOS. He will introduce applicable ADB policies and procedures for procurement of goods and works as well as for recruitment of consulting services, informing participants on how to maximize their ability to win ADB-financed contract, and where to locate ADB opportunities. Moreover, the theme of BOS also links to our competitive industries in the transport and the energy sectors. We have also invited Mr. Robert Valkovic, the ADB principal transport specialist, and Mr. Stephen Peters, the ADB senior energy specialist, to be our speakers at the BOS. Mr. Robert Valkovic will introduce ADB's programs, projects, and opportunities in countries in the New Southbound Policy under the transport sector. Mr. Stephen Peters will introduce ADB's energy operations in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. Moreover, participants can speak directly with our speakers at the BOS on topics relevant to their engagement with ADB-funded projects through one-on-one meetings. Participants can take advantage of this opportunity to introduce their enterprises and to learn new ways to communicate, helping to make use of the information of business opportunities and enhance their competitive ability.
We encourage Taiwanese firms that are interested in pursuing ADB-financed projects to participate in the BOS. Please note that admission to the BOS is free. The BOS will be conducted in English and simultaneous interpretation will be provided for all participants. The deadline of registration is July 30 this year, and the registration will be closed when the quota is filled. Please register as early as possible to make sure seats are available.
